KUCHING, Jan 6: The eight-year-old grand prize winner of Sarawak Tourism Board’s (STB) ‘Hidden Gem of Sarawak’ photography competition has recently been disqualified following the organiser’s discovery that her submission violates the competition’s terms and conditions.
In one of its Facebook posts dated Dec 21, 2022, under the ‘Sarawak Travel, Malaysia, Borneo’ page, STB said it was verified that the submitted photo was taken before 2022.
One of the clauses in the competition’s ‘Rules and Regulations Guidelines’ stated: “All photographs and videos must be taken in the year to the closing date of the competition before 15th December 2022.”
Therefore, STB informed that a new list of winners would be announced in the coming days.
“After careful validation, verification and deliberation, we have found the Grand Prize winning photo to have breached a clause in our competition.
“As such, a decision has been made to disqualify the photo. We are now finalising the list and will be announcing it in the coming days,” STB commented on Jan 3 under a post announcing the grand prize winner.
On Jan 5, STB continued the thread, saying: “We have confirmed with relevant parties that the photo was taken before 2022, which was in violation of the terms and conditions.” — DayakDaily
