S’wak Tourism Board reaches 1.12 bln eyeballs, generates RM97 mln in PR value in 2022

KUCHING, May 23: Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) has reached 1.12 billion eyeballs in readership, viewership and listenership through traditional and online platforms for the year 2022.

Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the PR value generated was at least RM97 million.

The digital visibility brought about was RM13.1 million for the same period, he added.

“STB will continue with these initiatives in the year 2023 to ensure and enhance Sarawak’s visibility before global eyes,” he said in his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today.

Meanwhile, Abdul Karim said STB also added another award to its five awards last year, which is ‘The Best Booth Planning Award’ during the 38th Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF) 2023 in Seoul, South Korea by using novel and creative ideas to create the booth.

For the year 2023, he said, STB has planned 55 marketing initiatives with the objective of conversion and growth through participation in domestic and international trade and consumer fairs and product update roadshows.

From January to March 2023, STB participated in 17 programmes worldwide, including South Asia’s Tourism and Trade Exchange (SATTE) 2023 in Delhi, India; Routes Asia 2023 in Chiang Mai, Thailand; TRAVEX ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Jogjakarta, Indonesia; NATAS Travel Fair in Singapore; Tourism Malaysia Sales Mission Taiwan in Taipei and Kaohsiung); and Sarawak Fest 2023 at MITSUI KLIA Outlet, Sepang. — DayakDaily
