KUCHING, May 23: The Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development is in the midst of discussing the possibility of hosting the proposed Southeast Asean (SEA) Obstacle Sports Championship in Kuching from Sept 4–6.

According to its minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, this was based on the growing interest among Malaysian youth, particularly in relation to the achievements of the Malaysian obstacle race athletes in the recent SEA Games in Cambodia.

“Undisputedly, our local youth will have more advantages while capitalising on the future locally established training centre in Kuching.

“Sarawak has the potential to be a hub for developing champion obstacle race athletes in the near future,” he said during his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today.
