KUCHING, Apr 15: Sarawak will extend its unified port governance system to the Tanjung Embang Gas Terminal Port under the Sarawak Ports Authority (SarPA) framework as part of efforts to streamline operations and strengthen coordination across the State’s maritime sector.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the establishment of SarPA will place all ports under a single coordinating framework to improve planning, efficiency and consistency in governance across the State.

“The extension to Tanjung Embang reflects Sarawak’s approach in managing strategic maritime and energy-related facilities in a more integrated manner.

“The inclusion of Tanjung Embang under the system underscores Sarawak’s commitment to a structured and cohesive port governance model,” he said.

He made these remarks when delivering his speech at the 30th anniversary celebration of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad at a hotel here on Tuesday (Apr 14).

Looking ahead, Abang Johari added that Sarawak’s port system is being developed as an integrated network to support industrial growth, trade facilitation and logistics efficiency.

In line with this direction, he said SarPA will continue to guide the coordination and development of the State’s maritime assets in support of its broader economic agenda. — DayakDaily
