KUCHING, Sept 28: Sarawak is among the five states that dominated Malaysia’s exports as of Aug 2026, contributing 5.4 per cent.
According to a media release by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), Sarawak ranked fourth, ahead of Kuala Lumpur at 3.2 per cent, while Pulau Pinang remained the top exporter at 51.1 per cent, followed by Johor (17.5 per cent) and Selangor (13.4 per cent).
Sarawak recorded an increase of RM2.2 billion in exports, contributing to a nationwide increase of RM59.7 billion (45.5 per cent) compared with Aug 2025.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s imports in Aug 2026 increased by RM47.5 billion (41.1 per cent) compared with Aug 2025, but Sarawak recorded a decrease in imports of RM51 million.
Overall, Malaysia’s total trade in Aug 2026 amounted to RM354 billion, with exports and imports valued at RM191 billion and RM163 billion, respectively. — DayakDaily
