KUCHING, Aug 28: Sarawak is among the five leading exporting states in the country, accounting for about 5.2 per cent of Malaysia’s total exports in July this year.
In a statement from the Department of Statistics, Malaysia’s total exports in July 2026 were valued at RM193.6 billion.
Penang remained the leading exporting state, accounting for 48.4 per cent of Malaysia’s total exports, followed by Johor (19.1 per cent), Selangor (14.7 per cent), Sarawak (5.2 per cent), and Kuala Lumpur (2.9 per cent).
In total, these five states dominated Malaysia’s exports, accounting for about 90.3 per cent of the total value.
It added that Malaysia’s exports in July 2026 increased by RM53.5 billion (38.2 per cent) compared with the same period last year.
Overall, total exports in Penang amounted to RM93.7 billion, followed by Johor (RM36.9 billion), Selangor (RM28.4 billion), Sarawak (RM10.2 billion), and Kuala Lumpur (RM5.7 billion), all of which recorded increases.
Kedah (RM4.2 billion), Perak (RM4.1 billion), Negeri Sembilan (RM2.3 billion), and Kelantan (RM0.4 billion) also recorded increases.
However, Melaka (RM2.5 billion), Pahang (RM2 million), Terengganu and Sabah (RM1.2 billion each), Labuan (RM0.2 billion), and Perlis (RM0.1 billion) recorded decreases. — DayakDaily
