KUCHING, May 25: Schools in Sarawak have a total of 3,061 unfilled Education Service Officer positions, including 30 vacancies in the Julau Parliamentary constituency.
Minister of Education (MOE) Fadhlina Sidek revealed this, when asked by Julau MP Datuk Larry Sng to specify the number of vacancies for teachers in Sarawak, particularly in the Julau Parliamentary constituency. Sng shared the text of Fadhlina’s reply in a Facebook story.
“The total number of Education Service Officers for schools under MOE in Sarawak is 42,987 as of April 30, 2023, compared to the number of positions filled, which is 39,926. Sarawak has a total of 3,061 open positions for Education Service Officers.
“For the Julau Parliamentary constituency, as of April 30, 2023, the total number of Education Service Officers is 692 compared to the number of positions filled, which is 662 teachers. There are 30 Education Service Officer vacancies in the Julau Parliament.
“MOE is committed to continuing to meet the needs of teachers across the country in order to ensure effective teaching and learning,” Fadhlina said during the Minister’s Question Time (MQT) in Parliament in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (May 23).
She also said that MOE always pays close attention to the filling of teaching positions in primary and secondary schools across the nation so that teaching and learning can be effectively implemented in schools under MOE. — DayakDaily
