S’wak govt identifies measures to stabilise, control livestock prices in State

KUCHING, June 17: The Sarawak government has identified measures to stabilise and control livestock prices in State.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that prices of livestock in Sarawak are relatively higher compared to other regions.

“I have a plan for next year, where we can control the prices of cattle and our livestock. I will make an announce about it afterwards,” he told reporters when met after attending the Aidiladha Thanksgiving Ceremony at Hikmah Hall in Petra Jaya here today.

Meanwhile, three cattle were sacrificed during the ceremony and the sacrificial meat was distributed to 100 recipients from the needy group in Kuching Division.

In Kuching this year, 63 registered Qurban ceremonies were held in mosques, suraus and government agency facilities throughout the division, with a total of 88 cattle sacrificed. The meat was distributed to 1,000 recipients.

Among those present were Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, the Premier’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, and Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC) president Datuk Misnu Taha. — DayakDaily
