KUCHING, May 23: The Sarawak government has allocated RM2.5 million to upgrade the Bintangor Sports Complex running track.

According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS) yesterday (May 22), Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the project will be undertaken by Meradong and Julau District Council, which is currently in the final phase of the documentation process.

“A new site for the construction of the Bintangor Swimming Pool has also been identified but is still awaiting approval from the relevant parties,” he said.

He added that Meradong is in need of modern sports facilities in order to produce more talented athletes.

“I take this matter seriously and have raised the issue (the condition of the Bintangor Sports Complex) often in almost every session of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting,” he said. — DayakDaily
