S’wak delegation attends World Water Congress in Canada to promote Kuching as host for 2028 edition

KUCHING, Aug 12: The Sarawak delegation attended the International Water Association (IWA) World Water Congress and Exhibition 2024 in Toronto, Canada, to promote Kuching as the host for the 2028 edition of the event.

The Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak (MUT), in a press statement today, said the delegation was led by its minister, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, together with his deputy Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Ministers for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak Datuk Dr Penguang Mangil and Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, and others.

The objectives of the Sarawak delegation’s attendance were to gain insights into the latest trends in best practices, innovative technologies in the water sector, and management approaches.

Apart from that, they also engaged with industry leaders, aiming to foster new collaborations to shape the State’s water future.

As announced on Sept 16, 2023, during the Malaysia Day celebration, Kuching has been selected as the host city for the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2028.

Among others, the delegation is scheduled to meet with Toronto Water, the municipal division of the City of Toronto, which is the Platinum Sponsor for the IWA WWCE 2024. — DayakDaily
