KUCHING, Dec 30: SUPP Stakan has lauded the new Cabinet by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government but also asked that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg look into the possibility of adding Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang to the Cabinet line-up.

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok said that the new line-up is a balanced Cabinet with a good mix of experienced and young leaders.

“We trust the judgment of the Chief Minister who has hand-picked the elected representatives to join his Cabinet.

“We only asked that the Chief Minister look at the possibility of adding maybe one more SUPP elected representative, possibly YB Lo Khere Chiang from the Southern Zone into the Cabinet,” he said in a statement today.

Sim also hailed the elevation of Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian as Deputy Chief Minister in Abang Johari’s new Cabinet and the appointment of Pelawan assemblyman Michael Tiang as Assistant Minister II for Public Health, Housing and Local Government.

“As SUPP members, we are elated to see the post of Deputy Chief Minister afforded to our party president (Dr Sim).

“We are happy to see our SUPP Youth chief Michael Tiang as part of the Cabinet. We wish him all the best in his future undertakings,” Sim said in extending his congratulatory wishes.

Sim expressed confidence that the new team assembled by Abang Johari will be able to fulfill his mission and vision for Sarawak.

“We hope that the new Cabinet once sworn in will fully exploit their potential to drive Sarawak forward and assist our Chief Minister to administer Sarawak to greater heights,” he added.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari today unveiled his new Cabinet featuring 10 full ministers and 26 assistant ministers comprising a mixture of experienced and new faces and professionals with representation from throughout the State as part of the renewal process and to deliver the best and most efficient level of service to the people.

The foundation of this new Cabinet line-up, he said, was based on the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 that will develop Sarawak into a high income economy by year 2030.

He emphasised that the new team is a functional Cabinet, equipped with competent, people-driven, transparent and with integrity focused on delivering effective services, while maintaining a solid structured system.

The new Cabinet, he added, is committed to implement all the 34 points pledged in the 12th Sarawak Election Manifesto for the next five years with emphasis on socio-economic development and wellbeing of the people.ā€” DayakDaily
