SUPP Stakan chairman: Extra revenue handy in helping Sarawak maintain its growth path

KUCHING, Feb 3: The extra revenue generated by the State has come in handy in helping Sarawak to maintain its growth path, says Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan branch chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok.

Sim opined the extra revenue can be use to prime Sarawak’s economy with more infrastructure works and investment in new industries, such as green technology, digital economy, carbon trading and carbon storage, hydrogen productions including its spin off products.

“Our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has also helped in our cost of living and cost of doing business, by extending the electricity discount for six more months till end of June”, he said in a statement today.


He added with the extra revenue, the Premier can also extend further assistance to those in needs such as reduction of house assessment, land quit rent, water rates and cash handout for the needy.

Yesterday (Feb 2), Abang Johari announced Sarawak’s actual revenue performance for the financial year 2022 has surpassed its projected revenue by 17 per cent from RM10.2 billion to RM11.9 billion.

It is the highest revenue performance ever achieved by Sarawak. —DayakDaily
