KUCHING, Feb 3: Padawan Municipal Council’s (MPP) headquarters in 10th Mile will be turned into a commercial centre once the new complex in Semenggoh is completed.

MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang said currently, the new complex is in the planning and drawing stage, and construction is expected to start by year end.

According to Lo, MPP was given the challenge by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to turn the current building into a commercial entity.

“Once we move into the new office, the space here can be turned into a commercial property, and we are going to commercialise it to raise funds to carry out stage 2 of our project,” he told reporters when met during the MPP Chinese New Year Open House held at MPP headquarters, today.

On Aug 19, 2022, the Sarawak government approved a 20-acre site near Semenggoh Wildlife Centre at Batu 12 Jalan Kuching-Serian for the development of a new MPP complex.
