MPP chairman: Council welcomes village vendor licence applicants

Lo Khere Chiang

KUCHING, Feb 3: Villagers under the jurisdiction of the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) are encouraged to apply to the council to obtain a licence to operate a business in their village.

“There is such thing as a village vendor licence for villagers to do business such as selling goods and services,” said MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang.

“We have issued such licenses to village vendors at Kampung Haji Baki, Kampung Lambir and many more under MPP’s jurisdiction,” he said.

“MPP has no issue in approving such licences for vendors in villagers who want to do business under our jurisdiction,” he added.

Lo said this after he was approached with an issue from a vendor in Kampung Sapit, who alleged that could not do his business in the village despite approaching MPP.

“But if the matter has to do with taxation, and the Inland Revenue Board, then the vendor should approach them and resolve the matter. But in issuing a village license to do business, MPP has no problem,” he reiterated. ā€” DayakDaily
