KUCHING, Sept 24: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan branch calls all MPs to practise integrity.
SUPP Stakan chairman Sim Kiang Chiok believed continuous jostling for the Prime Minister post can only result in a stunted federal government which is unable to govern and protect the country and its citizens.
This follows the claims by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday that he has the gathered enough MPs to support him to form a new government.
“The news of a political takeover by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim seems to be yet another disingenuous move by Pakatan Harapan (PH) to confuse matters in the public’s eye because just days ago, the top leadership from Democractic Action Party (DAP) like Lim Guan Eng and even DAP Sarawak supremo Chong Chieng Jen had been saying that they would want Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, the Warisan (Parti Warisan Sabah) leader as the prime minister candidate.
“Now, DAP seems to have jumped en bloc to Anwar’s camp with Lim Guan Eng confirming DAP’s support should Anwar possess the required numbers.
“In our view, this is totally shameless politics,” Sim emphasised in a statement.
As DAP has shifted their choice for the prime minister’s candidate, Sim questioned DAP’s principles.
He added that the SUPP Stakan branch would also like DAP to explain why it would be beneficial for Sarawak that Malaysia sees a change of government within months.
Meanwhile, Sim revealed SUPP Stakan branch would like to remind the people that there could be a possibility of simultaneous state and general elections.
He believed that the only way to solve the latest political impasse could be for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin to dissolve Parliament and let the voters decide who should lead the country and end the politicking. — DayakDaily
