SUPP president gives reporters the slip after CWC meeting

Reporters wait for the adjournment of the SUPP CWC meeting at the party's headquarters, hoping to catch Dr Sim for comments.

KUCHING, May 14: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian gave reporters the slip tonight after chairing a Central Working Committee (CWC).

Reporters had been waiting at the party’s headquarters here since 7pm until 11pm when the meeting supposedly adjourned.

Dr Sim however took a different exit and headed straight for his waiting car before speeding off, leaving reporters with a three-paragraph press statement distributed by the party’s organising secretary Datuk Matthew Chen.

The press statement said that the CWC meeting’s main agenda was to discuss the way forward for SUPP.

It said the party respected the verdict of the rakyat and congratulated Pakatan Harapan (PH) for its victory in the 14th general election (GE14).

“The objective to regain our Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 remains our utmost priority,” the statement concluded.

SUPP in GE14 only managed to retain the Serian seat through the party’s deputy president Datuk Richard Riot.

SUPP failed to win in Bandar Kuching through its candidate Kho Teck Wan, and Stampin through Dr Sim.

It also failed to win Lanang, Sibu, Sarikei and Miri.

So far Dr Sim has not issued any comment on the party’s performance in GE14. — DayakDaily
