MIRI, Mar 28: Amid the nationwide partial lockdown in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak, members of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Piasau branch has been packing more than 200 packages of food rations to the poor and the needy groups around Miri.

According to SUPP’s secretary general Datuk Sebastian Ting cum SUPP Piasau chairman, these food rations consist of nine items which would be delivered to the needy families once they are done with packing the food rations.

“It is one of the best ways we could do to help and reach out to the people affected by the movement control order (MCO) especially daily wagers,” said Ting when met today at a convenience storage in Piasau packing food rations.

Ting and several SUPP Piasau members together with other volunteers from Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) were at the premise since early morning packing the food rations.

He added that the first batch of food rations would be distributed to needy families in Kampung Pasir Lutong today.

Ting is hoping that more volunteers will come forward to help the needy during this trying time. —DayakDaily
