Transparent system needed to ensure aid and assistance reach the people: Voon

Voon Shiak Ni

KUCHING, Mar 28: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) women vice-chief Voon Shiak Ni questions the transparency of the RM250 billion rescue plan implementation and measures in ensuring that it reaches the people.

Voon in a statement said the public was now asking how to access all the said support from the packages and who would be helping them to process it.

According to her, the public was confused as to which agencies were in charge of processing all these financial aids and packages, including the systems and operations in place to handle these handouts.

“Further, there are pleas, especially from our longhouse folks in Sarawak, that they are facing difficult times for the past 10 days and that no aid has reached them yet. How are these financial aids going to reach the rural areas?” she asked.

Meanwhile, Voon also commended the government effort in the form of its RM250 billion plan as it would help lessen the burden of the people during this trying time.

She said it was a generous sum of money being rolled out to help and support the ‘rakyat’ to face the challenges of battling the pandemic.

“We credit the government for such huge efforts but then again strict measures and a transparent system need to be in place to ensure all the aid and assistance can reach the people and ground effectively,” she said. —DayakDaily.
