KUCHING, Aug 20: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, arrived in Kuching today ahead of a special visit to Telok Melano, where His Majesty is scheduled to officiate the Al-Sultan Abdullah Mosque tomorrow (Aug 21).
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), His Majesty arrived at about 11.45am at the VIP Terminal of Kuching International Airport (KIA), where he was received by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
Also present were Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, Sarawak Deputy Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee, Sarawak Deputy Secretary (Administration) Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah; and First Division Malaysian Infantry Division (1 Division) Commander Major General Mohd Sobirin Mohd Yusof.
This evening, His Majesty is scheduled to attend a Royal Dinner with Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Tomorrow, His Majesty is scheduled to perform Friday prayers at the Al-Sultan Abdullah Mosque in Telok Melano before officiating the mosque.
The mosque holds special significance for the Sultan of Pahang, as His Majesty officiated its groundbreaking ceremony on Sept 13, 2023, while serving as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Following the ceremony, His Majesty is scheduled to plant a Bauhinia purpurea sapling in the mosque compound.
He will then take a stroll along Telok Melano beach and pose for photographs at the 0.00 kilometre point of the Pan Borneo Highway.
His Majesty is scheduled to return to Pahang Darul Makmur on Saturday, departing from KIA for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Kuantan Air Base. — DayakDaily
