KUCHING, Aug 9: Sarawak has launched the first ever mobile app for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) titled ‘SUKMA XXI’ today.
Sarawak Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the mobile app developed by the Sarawak government, aims to offer real-time result updates and information on the national sport events to the public.
“Presently, we all have smartphones. Since Sukma is a very important event, I hope that all Sarawakians can download the app so that we can know what is happening from day to day and also how many collected medals there are.
“I also believe that all State contingents would download this app because it has features to show the event schedules, results and medal collections,” he said at the press conference after the ‘SUKMA XXI’ mobile app launching ceremony held at Baitul Makmur II here today.
In addition, Abdul Karim said the app users can also have access to watch videos or livestream of Sukma events provided by TVS.
Users can download the app in the Apple Store, Play Store and AppGallery through iOS, Android and Huawei platforms.
At the same time, Abdul Karim also announced the activation of the Sukma 2024 Command Centre which will operate from today (Aug 9) until Sept 28.
The command centre, he stated, will assist the Sukma Secretariat to monitor Sukma and Para Sukma events as well as issues that are happening in all 50 venues across nine divisions in Sarawak.
Abdul Karim also informed that the number of athletes and officers from all 15 contingents participating in Sukma 2024 is 10,343 people, while the total number of Sukma volunteers is over 17,000.
