KUCHING, Aug 19: The Sarawak contingent has so far bagged two silver and two bronze medals in shooting at the 21st Malaysian Games (Sukma).
The first silver was contributed by the men’s team in the 10m air rifle category, comprising Mohd Haziq Fadhil Khalid Fauzan, Adrielend Alexander Roland and Muhammad Razin Nifail Mohammad Rezza.
They were beaten by Negeri Sembilan which won the gold medal, while the bronze medal went to Pahang.
The second silver medal was delivered by Leticia Chai Jia Yi in the women’s individual for 25m pistol event while Pahang bagged both the gold and bronze medals.
Meanwhile, one of Sarawak’s two bronze medals was clinched by the men’s team comprising Justin Joannes Kelukin, Mohammad Syah Nurwandi Iqwan Abdullah and Abang Ikhmal Putra Zailan in the 10m air pistol category.
The second bronze was contributed by the women’s team comprising Leticia Chai Jia Yi, Nur Izzaty Abdul Razi and Siti Nur Anniesa Mohd Danial Fikri in the 25m air pistol category.
Shooting, the sport of firing at targets of various kinds with rifles and air pistols as an exercise in marksmanship, offers 24 gold medals in Sukma 2024.
Held at Petra Jaya Shooting Range here, the shooting events are scheduled to continue until Wednesday (Aug 21) with 12 more gold medals up for grabs. — DayakDaily
