Sukma 2024: Sarawak aims for bronze as artistic gymnastics kicks off on Aug 21

KUCHING, Aug 18: Sarawak is setting its sights on clinching the bronze medal in artistic gymnastics which will kick off on Aug 21 at the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report, Serian MP Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem expressed his confidence that the Sarawak team possesses both the talent and fighting spirit needed to secure the bronze in the competition.

Riot made these remarks yesterday (Aug 17) during the official opening ceremony of the Sukma XXI Serian Division Carnival held at the Serian Conference Centre grounds in Serian.

Meanwhile, Sarawak’s Artistic Gymnastics Team Manager, Jacqueline George Paou, added that the women’s team is among the top contenders and will strive to reach their target.

Podium training is scheduled to commence on Aug 20, just one day before the competition begins, which will run from Aug 21 to Aug 24.

On another note, the carnival attracted 65 stalls selling a wide range of food and beverages.

Also present at the event were Serian Division deputy resident Abdul Khalid Manap, Serian District officer Inting Nyami, and Serian District council secretary Tay Guan Huat. — DayakDaily
