KUCHING, July 9: Preparations for Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024, which is taking place this August, have reached more than 90 per cent completion.
Sukma 2024 chief executive officer (CEO) Datu Hii Chang Kee said he is confident that the final preparations would run smoothly despite facing various challenges in the earlier stages.
He said unpredictable weather is one of the challenges faced by contractors when setting up the sports facilities.
According to a news report by TVS, he said other challenges include logistics because hosting Sukma involves several parts of Sarawak, but the completion of the Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway has made movement easier.
Hii, who is also Deputy Secretary of the Sarawak government, said the sports village and other aspects such as food, security and volunteers are in place.
Hii said this after receiving a courtesy visit from Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
The Bernama delegation was led by CEO Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin.
Also present were chief editor Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, deputy executive editor Elmi Rizal Elias, and Bernama Sarawak Bureau head Hamdan Ismail. — DayakDaily
