Substation components stolen, telco suffers RM15,000 in losses

MIRI, Oct 7: Brazen thieves broke into a telecommunication network substation in Niah last week and got away with telecommunications components worth more than RM15,000.

According to sources, the incident was discovered on Thursday (Oct 4) at about 11am by one of the company’s technician.

A preliminary check of the scene revealed a section of the substation fencing was cut open, believed to be done by thieves.

As at press time, no arrests have been made as police are still investigating.

The case is being investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code for mischief. — DayakDaily
