Strategic planning, collaboration: Sarawak JKR leadership meets with federal Works Minister

KUCHING, July 26: In a significant gesture of collaboration and strategic planning, the top management of the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) recently paid a courtesy visit to federal Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi at his office in Kuala Lumpur.

According to a Facebook post by Sarawak JKR, the courtesy visit yesterday (July 25), led by Sarawak JKR director Dr Cassidy Morris with the new Sarawak JKR directorate, was his first official visit since taking over as director on May 29.

The delegation introduced the new management team of JKR Sarawak and discussed the department’s direction.

The meeting also covered key federal projects in Sarawak, which JKR Sarawak oversees, following its recognition as a Technical Department in Malaysia last year.

Notable projects reviewed included the current status of the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak, Sarawak-Sabah Link Road Phase I (SSLR I), Sarawak-Sabah Link Road Phase II (SSLR II), Redline alignment, the Trans Borneo Highway (LTB), the proposed Batu 8 flyover construction, and maintenance work on federal roads, among other topics.

This courtesy visit underscored the strong collaboration between the federal and state governments in developing infrastructure in Sarawak, ultimately aimed at enhancing the welfare of the people.

Also present at the event were Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Public Works (KKR); Dato Zahrul Hakim Abdullah, Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and Development); Mohd Sakeri Abdul Kadir, Deputy Secretary-General (Management); along with senior ministry officials and Sarawak JKR officers. — DayakDaily
