Stranded occupants rescued from second floor in SK Sungai Maong teacher’s quarters fire

KUCHING, Sept 7: Firefighters rescued three adult occupants trapped on the upper floor while responding to a fire at low-rise teacher’s quarters at SK Sungai Maong in Jalan Stapok today.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to the emergency at 6.38pm and swiftly deployed firefighters from the Batu Lintang and Padungan stations to the scene.

Operation commander reported that the three occupants, comprising a man and two women, were safely rescued and sustained no injuries.

Firefigters quickly acted to extinguished the blaze, which had affected one block of the three-storey quarters, housing a total of six units.

Unfortunately, the fire completely destroyed one unit on the second floor. — DayakDaily
