KUCHING, June 28: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng has expressed his gratitude to STM Lottery Sdn Bhd (STM Lottery) for donating RM40,000 to the Kuching’s Got Talent 2023 competition which will take place during the Kuching Festival this year.
Wee said STM Lottery has been generous as one of their main sponsors for Kuching Festival for more than 20 years and the donation would go towards the expenses of the competition, where 280 participants are expected to compete.
He said the competition is divided into three categories, namely dancing, singing, and other talents.
“The audition will be held on July 1 and July 2 at the MBKS Auditorium from 1pm to 6pm.
“The semifinals will be held on Aug 12 and 13, respectively, at the MBKS Theatre (Floating Stage) and within the compound of MBKS from 7pm onwards,” he told reporters before receiving the mock cheque from STM Lottery at MBKS headquarters today.
Wee revealed that representatives from recording companies will also be invited to form a panel of judges this year to evaluate the performances of the competing talents.
“This could be a golden opportunity for the winners to get into the entertainment industry. We are also hoping to attract more creative arts enthusiasts to join us, especially in the ‘other talents’ category,” he said.
