KUCHING, Aug 30: Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) will be participating in the Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair Kuala Lumpur 2023 at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from Sept 1–3 with a new exhibition format.
In a statement today, STB Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Integrated Marketing & Communication) Suriya Charles Buas said this new format allows participating exhibitors like Sarawak to strategically showcase their products, especially arts and crafts.
“With tour operators and non-trade exhibitors strategically placed, visitors to the booth can easily learn more about the packages offered and shop for Sarawak’s handicrafts that reflect the beauty of our heritage and denote the reason behind Kuching being conferred a “World Craft City” by the World Craft Council,” he said.
STB and 16 of its industry partners will be promoting various tourism offerings that highlight Sarawak’s attractive culture, arts and crafts, adventure, nature and rich gastronomy, ranging from leisure activities to adrenaline-pumping tour packages such as visiting traditional longhouses, diving, kayaking, mountain climbing. Visitors will also be introduced to a variety of Sarawak food and beverages at Sarawak Pavilion located at booth number 1L11 – 1L22.
MATTA Fair visitors interested in visiting Sarawak may stop by booths operated by Brighton Travel & Tour Sdn Bhd, Cat City Holidays Sdn Bhd, CPH Travel Agencies (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, Greatown Travel Sdn Bhd, Hemisphere, Innosar Holidays Sdn Bhd, Inter-Continental Travel Centre Sdn Bhd, Khaimal Borneo Sdn Bhd, Meritin Hotel Kuching, One Wayang Tours Sdn Bhd, Transworld Travel Services Sdn Bhd and Tropical Adventure Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd.
“Throughout the three days, visitors to Sarawak Pavilion can look forward to sape musical performances at 12pm, 3pm and 5.30pm daily, and stand a chance to win souvenirs during the Q&A sessions about places of interest in Sarawak scheduled at 11.45am, 2.30pm, and 6.00pm daily.
“Other attractions include arts and cultural activities happening at 1.00pm, 4.00pm and 7.00pm daily where visitors can participate in a dance workshop with Sarawak’s Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu warriors and maidens,” the statement added.
Apart from STB, non-trade exhibitors from Sarawak include Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), Sarawak Craft Council (SCC), Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) and Borneo Street.
