KUCHING, May 22: Staying overnight at a relative’s house during a festive celebration visit is against the standard operating procedure set by the National Security Council (MKN), said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

According to Ismail Sabri, the SOP clearly indicates that visiting family members are only allowed on the first day of Hari Raya.

“Only the first day is allowed for the family members to visit their close relatives, after the first day, it is against the SOP that was issued by the MKN,” he said in a press conference on held at Putrajaya today.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also stated that the process of sending students from institutions of higher learning (IPT) back to their hometowns will temporarily stop to make way for the Hari Raya celebration.

Ismail Sabri also revealed that since April 27 until May 22, 2020, a total of 51,000 IPT students have been sent back to their hometowns.

Yesterday, he said a total of 894 students have been sent back to their homes, involving two flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching, and another two flights from Kuching to Kota Kinabalu.

“The process is temporarily stopped at the moment for Hari Raya celebration, and will be resumed on May 28, 2020,” he added.—DayakDaily.
