Business premises in Bau told not to hike up prices

Miro Simuh

BAU, May 22: Serumbu assemblyman Miro Simuh hopes that business premises do not  increase the prices of goods indiscriminately as it will affect the people, especially the lower income group.

He said that the Movement Control Order (MCO) arising from the Covid-19 pandemic has greatly affected the people, in terms of income.

“The effort of Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNKK) to continue monitoring the prices of goods is very much commended, but it is also hoped that business premises do not increase prices of goods indiscriminately,” he told reporters here today.

He has earlier accompanied the state KPDNKK led by its director, Datuk Stanley Tan to inspect prices of goods at Bau wet market and Bau branch Everwin Supermarket.

Miro pointed out that with Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak celebrations coming, business premises should not take the opportunity by resorting to increasing the prices of goods at their whims.

Miro also said he is satisfied with the prices of goods at the two business premises they visited today, where the operators adhered with the price control scheme in conjunction with the two coming celebrations. – DayakDaily
