KUCHING, Dec 5: The Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos) set its sights on attracting high-net worth visitors in Singapore to Sarawak at the Singapore International Jewelry Expo 2021 (SIJE 2021) which was held from Dec 2 to 5.

Statos in a statement today said the office used the opportunity to promote Sarawak tourism.

According to Statos deputy chief executive officer Putrie Rozana Soraya, visitors to this high-profile event as the perfect target audience for Statos to encourage to travel to Sarawak.

“With the recent establishment of the ‘vaccinated travel lane (VTL)’ from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, we are certain that a VTL direct to Kuching will soon follow, and Sarawak will begin to see an influx of Singaporean tourists.

“We are very happy with the value of publicity received at the show which equates to an advertising value of approximately RM123,000 in the local market,” she said.

Meanwhile, a lucky draw session was held as part of a sponsorship arrangement co-ordinated by Statos in partnership with Mulu Marriot Resort and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Tourism and Hospitality Group at the expo.

In the sponsorship deal, Sarawak Tourism Board’s new tourism video ‘A Journey Awaits—See you in Sarawak 2022.’ was shown throughout the event and lucky draw winners in attendance received accommodation vouchers and finely handcrafted traditional bags.
