State-level Gawai Dayak do on June 22 promises to be grand

KUCHING, June 13: This year’s state-level Gawai Dayak celebration here on June 22 promises to be a grand affair.

Among others, there would be a procession showcasing the diversity of Dayak cultural grandeur. It would end at the Kuching Waterfront.

This morning, the organising committee led by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at his office in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here.


Other members of the delegation included Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing, Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Penguang Manggil, Deputy State Secretary Datu Jaul Samion and Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Utilities Dato Alice Jawan.

During the visit, the delegation briefed Abang Johari on the programme, the significance of the celebration and extended an invitation to him to officiate at the launching.

Meanwhile, after the meeting, Abang Johari received a farewell call by the outgoing Consul-General of the Indonesian Consulate in Kuching, Bapak Jahar Gultom. — DayakDaily
