KUCHING, Aug 4: In regards to the anti-party hopping law that had been passed in Parliament recently, Sarawak State Attorney Genera Dato Sri Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid said no decision had been made at the moment as to whether or not the law would be implemented in Sarawak.
He said the office had looked into it but no decision had been made yet as thorough studies would need to be conducted.
As to whether to table the Bill in Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN), he said that is for the government to decide.
Dato Sri Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid told reporters this while he was attending the reference proceedings for the departed Sarawakian Judges at the Kuching High Court here today.
The Constitution (Amendment) Bill (No 3) 2022 and the Provision for the Prohibition of Members of Parliament (MPs) from Party-Hopping has been passed in the Dewan Rakyat on July 28, 2022 with 209 MPS voting for the motion. ā DayakDaily
