Starbucks Malaysia marks 14th anniversary of Global Month of Good with CSR initiatives

KUCHING, April 30: Starbucks Malaysia celebrates the 14th anniversary of its Global Month of Good (GMOG) programme by collaborating with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and government bodies to give back and enrich local communities through six different corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

According to a press release from Starbucks Malaysia, each programme, from environmental conservation projects to initiatives supporting marginalised individuals, demonstrated the company’s commitment to positively contributing to the planet and every community it serves.

The ‘Committed to Serve the Deaf Society’ initiative, held in Kuching, was one of the highlights of Starbucks Malaysia’s GMOG programme this year.

Per the press release, Starbucks Malaysia participated in Sarawak Society for the Deaf (SSD) Charity Food Fair 2024, which was hosted by one of their Signing Store partners, the Sarawak Society for the Deaf (SSD), at Association of Churches in Sarawak on Jalan Stampin here.

“The event aimed to support the operational costs and projects for SSD, dedicated to enriching the lives of Deaf individuals in Sarawak,” read the press release.

Starbucks Malaysia proudly sponsored 200 Grande-sized Frappuccinos to fuel the festivities at the charity event, which was officiated at by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

“This sponsorship not only added to the success of the occasion but also exemplified their commitment to community welfare and inclusivity.

“The event garnered remarkable support, raising approximately RM150,000 to advance the initiatives of the Sarawak Society for the Deaf (SSD).

“This substantial contribution will positively impact the lives of at least 3,000 Deaf individuals, empowering SSD to further its invaluable efforts within the community.”

Other highlights of Starbucks Malaysia’s GMOG programme this year include the ‘Making a Difference, One Bubur Lambuk at a Time’ initiative, the ‘Honouring Our Heroes with a Cup of Gratitude’ initiative, the ‘Empowering Rural Communities in Sabah Through Sustainable Agriculture’ initiative, the ‘Hub for Deaf Individuals at Community Service for the Deaf (CSCD)’ initiative, and the ‘Building a Sustainable Future Together’ initiative. — DayakDaily
