KUCHING, Sept 28: St Joseph’s Cathedral will hold a Parish Family Day tomorrow (Sept 29) at the cathedral compound from 7.30am until 1.30pm.
St Joseph’s Cathedral, in a statement today, said the fundraising event (formerly known as the Parish Sales & Fair) had been organised annually from 2004 until 2019.
“After a four-year hiatus resulting from the pandemic, we are reviving this annual event with the objective to promote fellowship and community building and, at the same time, raise RM400,000 in aid of the Operations and Maintenance Fund of the Archdiocesan Curia & Cathedral Pastoral Centre (ACCPC),” it said.
Meanwhile, St Joseph’s Cathedral said its grand hall on the third floor of the ACCPC, with a seating capacity of 700 and the Mater Domini Auditorium (level two), with a 200 seating capacity, is available for booking not only for the Church’s lay organisations but also for groups outside the Church.
As for the event, it said there would be 77 stalls selling a wide variety of food and drinks, magic shows by Uncle Jerry de Clown, mini-concerts by the Indonesian and Filipino communities, fun activities and games for both young and old, a sushi chef food truck, and many more.
“A live band by our seminarians will be in attendance, and entertainment and music will be provided. There will be many attractions for children at Level 2, such as a shooting gallery, fishing grounds, face painting, cupcake decorating, sand art, tattoo stickers, and scratch art.
“All are invited to come and enjoy a fun-filled Sunday with family and friends and, at the same time, support a worthy cause.
“There will be tables and chairs where you can relax and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Coupons at RM10 per piece or RM50 per booklet will be available at our coupon booths on site,” the statement read.
