KUCHING, Sept 4: St Gregory’s Chapel Kampung Emperoh Giam has received an allocation of RM200,000 to complete construction over a two-year period.
In announcing this, Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, said RM100,000 will be given next year while another RM100,000 in 2025.
“For the chapel (St Gregory’s Chapel), I will give RM200,000, but over the period of two years starting next year and based on the progress of works,” Dr Jerip said yesterday (Sept 3) when officiating at St Gregory Chapel’s 31st anniversary celebration.
Dr Jerip, who is Mambong assemblyman also pointed out that road access to the chapel will be improved under a different Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation.
For the record, Dr Jerip has also allocated RM50,000 for the site clearing and another RM100,000 to start with the physical construction of the project.
The physical construction of the project is now about 90 per cent completed, where the construction was also made possible witu donations from the villagers
Dr Jerip said he is committed to the help with the construction of the project because the old chapel is prone to flood, and the role that places of worships play to mould positive values within society.
He thanked the villagers for the donations to help with the project become a reality.
