KUCHING, Dec 6: The Sabah Sarawak Rights Australia New Zealand (SSRANZ) has called on the Sarawak and Sabah governments to pass motions in their respective legislative assemblies to formally reject the Continental Shelf Act 1966 (CSA66), Petroleum Development Act 1974 (PDA74), Act 354A (1976), and Territorial Sea Act 2012 (TSA2012) as violations of Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the Federal Constitution.

This demand was one of the key motions adopted during SSRANZ’s annual meeting on Dec 1, supported by various individuals and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), including Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan, Saya Anak Sarawak founder Peter John Jaban, and former Mas Gading MP Patrick Anek Uren.

Re-elected SSRANZ president Robert Pei emphasised the urgent need to restore Sarawak’s and Sabah’s rights over petroleum resources and territorial boundaries.

“SSRANZ also urges the Federal government, particularly PETRONAS (Petroliam Nasional Bhd), to comply immediately with the gas distribution agreement made with Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros).

“Furthermore, we support Sabah’s demand for the immediate payment of its MA63 40 per cent revenue entitlements along with penalties,” he said in a statement today.

SSRANZ also advocates for the reinstatement of Sarawak and Sabah’s guaranteed parliamentary representation under the “no two-thirds rule,” calling for an increase in seats in the Dewan Rakyat to reflect the 34.6 per cent allocation promised under MA63.

It also called for the removal of Malayan political parties from the two Borneo states, arguing that their presence violates the entrenched provisions of MA63 regarding guaranteed seat allocations.

The non-government organisation (NGO) demanded that the Federal parliament repeal or amend laws that infringe upon the rights of Sarawak and Sabah.

The NGO urged Sarawakians and Sabahans to unite in defending their autonomy, rights, and the principle of self-determination for the future of Sarawak and Sabah. — DayakDaily
