KUCHING, Sept 19: In conjunction with the Malaysia Day celebrations, the people of Sri Aman are celebrating a significant milestone in local infrastructure development with the introduction of the Sarawak Traffic Light Intelligent Logistic Excellence (STILE) system at the LePaPa intersection.

Sri Aman Chinese community leader Temenggong Kueh Aik Seng expressed his gratitude to the government for its continuous efforts in addressing the region’s traffic challenges.

He praised the STILE system, the first of its kind not only in Sri Aman but also in Sarawak and East Malaysia, for its use of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

This innovative system adjusts traffic lights based on real-time data, drastically reducing vehicle congestion and wait times, especially during peak hours and major events.

“According to official data, Sri Aman is an area with a daily traffic flow of up to 15,000 vehicles and has long faced severe traffic pressure.

“The successful implementation of the STILE system marks a crucial step in enhancing urban mobility and road safety in Sarawak.”

Kueh went on to thank the government for its attention and support for Sri Aman.

“In the past, the intersection would cause traffic congestions, resulting in residents having to take 45 minutes to cover a distance of 5 kilometres.”

“However, with the introduction of the STILE system at the LePaPa intersection, traffic congestion has been reduced by around 25 per cent.

“It is understood that four other intersections in Sri Aman will soon be equipped with this intelligent system, and we are eagerly looking forward to a future with smoother traffic in Sri Aman,” he was quoted as saying.

At the same time, he expressed hope that the government would soon improve the main road from Temuduk to the Sri Aman town centre, thereby optimising the region’s traffic network.

He explained that it will benefit not only Sri Aman residents, but also visitors and travellers by making travel more convenient.

“As we celebrate the spirit of unity on Malaysia Day, we are also proud of Sri Aman’s progress toward a smarter, safer, more efficient, and more connected future,” he added. — DayakDaily
