KOTA KINABALU, Sept 12: The Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) has decided to double the special grant allocation for Sarawak and Sabah under Article 112D to RM600 million from RM300 million.
In a news report by TVS, Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof announced that the increase in special allocation has been agreed upon as an interim measure.
However, the formula to determine the permanent allocation amount is yet to be finalised.
“We discussed several key matters today, with the Prime Minister announcing the decision regarding Article 112D, which pertains to the special allocation for Sabah and Sarawak.
“Last year, we allocated RM300 million per State as an interim measure. Today, we agreed to raise this amount from RM300 million to RM600 million,” he told a press conference following the MTPMA63 meeting , chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) today.
Also present were Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.
Fadillah noted that the increase was mutually agreed upon to support the governments of Sabah and Sarawak. — DayakDaily
