KUCHING, March 6: The long-awaited Spaoh Sports Complex will finally open its doors to the public next month, where the traditional spinning top (‘gasing’) event will take place soon.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the RM14 million project is nearly complete while the contractors make some finishing touches.
The sports complex features an air-conditioned multi-purpose hall with four badminton courts, spectator seating, washrooms, and a stage.
It can also accommodate approximately 150 tables when used as a dinner venue.
The outdoor stadium’s amenities include a fully synthetic running track, a football field, a grandstand, and restrooms.
Uggah, also Bukit Saban assemblyman, visited the Spaoh Sports Complex today to inspect the construction progress.
Meanwhile, he also visited the RM5 million Spaoh new two-story market, which is scheduled to open in July this year.
Accompanying Uggah were political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Dr Richard Rapu, Betong District Council secretary Charlie Keling, and community leader Penghulu Goh Leng. — DayakDaily
