South Korea wins in girls’ category of Int’l Tennis Federation World Junior qualifier in Kuching

KUCHING, March 23: South Korea won in the girls’ category of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Junior Team Competition Under-14 Asia/Oceania Final 2024.

In the match, which took place at the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) centre, South Korea’s Yeri Hong beat Japan’s Yui Komada 2-0 with 4-6, 6-3, and 6-2 in the first singles.


Meanwhile, Yeseo Park from South Korea beat Japan’s Kokona Ishii 4-6, 7-5, and 6-2 in the second singles.

In addition, Australia claimed third place by beating Chinese Taipei 2-1.

With this, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and Chinese Taipei have confirmed their place in the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals in Prostejov, Czech Republic, this August.

The tournament for the boys’ category will start from March 25 to 30.

A welcoming dinner for the players and their teams was held at Kuching Waterfront Hotel tonight.

The participating countries are Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Uzbekistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Malaysia. — DayakDaily
