SOP non-compliance: One Indian national arrested, 7 individuals fined

KUCHING, Aug 26: Police arrested an Indian national in Padawan today for failing to adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) for business premises.

Seven individuals were also slapped with a RM1,000 fine for violating Covid-19 SOP throughout Sarawak.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, revealed four compound notices were issued in Kota Samarahan and one each in Padawan, Betong and Sarikei.


Under Ops Benteng with six roadblocks mounted in five districts comprising Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu, a total of 2,007 vehicles were inspected.

SDMC also reported that compliance checks were carried out in 1,975 premises throughout Sarawak involving 193 supermarkets, restaurants (411), factories (13), banks (141), government offices (70), hawkers (36), markets (86), houses of worship (79), recreational areas (53), construction sites (31) and others (862). — DayakDaily
