Song police intensified MCO enforcement despite 90% compliance

SONG, Feb 9: Police here have intensified their Movement Control Order (MCO) enforcement despite a 90% compliance rate among the residence.

Song and Kapit are placed under MCO from Feb 4 to 15.

Song district police chief DSP Rowney Michael Jalak said today that they had extended their enforcement to six more places from the initial two roadblocks at Jalan Takan and Jalan Temalat.

The six roadblocks at longhouses are manned by Rela included at ACD, Jalan Takan, Rumah Jarop, Rumah Gelana, Rumah Senit, Rumah Japok while Ruman Jala, Rh Garing and Rh Nyangun are having similar roadblock.

“The situation here is under control where MCO standard operating procedure enforcement is according to the procedure. Up to now from our monitoring in the town, villages and longhouses, the level of compliance is 90%,” he said.

DSP Rowney said those caught without the police permit to travel and without good reason, will be asked to turn back.

“We will not hesitate to issue compound to anyone caught committing the offence,” he said. — DayakDaily
