Police investigates video clip of fight at oil palm plantation

Several men, believed to be oil palm plantation securities were seen attacking the victim

MIRI, 9 Feb: A video clip of a fight involving several men in an oil palm plantation in Niah have gone viral on social media and WhatsApp since Sunday.

The video, lasting one minute and 26 seconds showed at least six men, believed to be security guards of the oil palm plantation, hitting and kicking a male victim using a wooden rod.


Photos of the victim bleeding and being punched multiple times were also circulated.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said police were aware of the video and that the incident occurred at an oil palm plantation in Ladang 3, on Sunday (Feb 7) afternoon around 2pm.

A report has also been lodged on the matter by the 22 year-old victim.

“The police are still investigating the case,” he said when contacted on Monday.

It was made to understand that the suspects in the case would be surrendering themselves at Miri Centre Police station (CPS).

The case is classifying under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons. — DayakDaily
