SRI AMAN: In view of its rising population and rapid infrastructure growth, Balai Ringin should be made a sub-district said its Assemblyman Snowdan Lawan.

“By upgrading its status to a sub-district it will provide better and efficient administration, which will increase the pace of development especially in the surrounding rural areas,” said Snowdan when met during Hari Raya Aidilfitri visit yesterday.

The town of Balai Ringin itself has a population of 7,000 and currently equipped with schools, a library a mosque, a clinic, an army camp, a wet market and shophouses.

Despite all this, the residents still need to travel to Serian Resident or District office for official matters.

“I feel it is time for Balai Ringin to be a sub-district today, as it will also benefit the residents of surrounding Kedup,” Snowdan added.

Meanwhile, Snowdan encourage the residents of Balai Ringin to visit each other during celebrations such as Hari Raya to strengthen the ties between different communities.

“I never miss visiting the Muslim community in Balai Ringin during Raya because I believe that we should cherish the relationship among communities and respect one another,” he said. –
