KUCHING, March 31: Balai Ringin will have a new township along with a waterfront, says Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
Snowdan, who is Balai Ringin assemblyman, said other projects in the pipeline include retail and commercial lots, a recreation park, long distance bus parking bays and a new sub-district office.
“The new mini stadium is scheduled for completion within this year,” he said.
Snowdan said this when attending a Buka Puasa (Iftar Ramadhan) programme at Masjid Jamek, Kampung Melayu Balai Ringin recently, according to a statement.
Meanwhile, when attending the breaking-of-fast programme at Masjid Jamek, Snowdan said Balai Ringin also needs a new and bigger mosque to cater for the growing Muslim community.
According to him, the existing mosque requires regular maintenance and the facilities are inadequate.
“Moreover, it would be just right and in tandem with Balai Ringin being elevated as a new sub-district,” he added.
During the programme, Snowdan, who is also Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, distributes food aid to 23 Asnaf recipients consisting of single mothers, the disabled (OKU), and the poor (fakir miskin) from the village.
He also presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds to the village’s Development and Security Committee (RM20,000), Women’s Bureau (RM10,000) and the mosque committee (RM10,000) for them to finance their annual activities. — DayakDaily
