Snooker and drinking get-together accounts for highest number of compounds issued today

KUCHING, May 18: Individuals playing snooker and drinking alcohol in business premises took up the biggest share of compounds issued by the police today.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said the police had issued a total of 14 compounds in Kuching (12) and Bintulu (two) for various standard operating procedure (SOP) violations.

“While seven people were compounded for the prohibited activities in business premises, four others were compounded due to not wearing face masks, followed by two individuals who failed to produce an interzone travel permit and one for not scanning the MySejahtera QR code.

“This brings the total number of compounds issued since March 18 last year to 6,568 so far,” the committee revealed.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH) issued 21 SOP violation compounds under the supervision of Bintulu Development Authority (five), Kapit District Council (four), Padawan Municipal Council (four), Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (two), Dalat and Mukah District Council (one), Matu and Daro District Council (one), Lundu District Council (one), Serian District Council (one), Kuching South City Council (one) and Miri City Council (one).

The violations included not updating or incomplete entries in customer registration logbooks (16), not wearing face masks (four) and premises operating beyond permitted hours (one).
