KUCHING, Oct 12: SMK Bandar Bintulu is to be closed down for seven days after a Covid-19 case in the school was confirmed.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) revealed SMK Bandar Bintulu has been instructed by Sarawak Education Department to close for sanitisation and cleaning works from Oct 10 to 16.
This is in accordance to the school closure order approved by the Deputy Director from the General Office of Education Malaysia on Oct 9 on the occasion that any teacher or student were to be tested positive for Covid-19.
Another decision made during a special meeting with SDMC today involves the closure of four entertainment centres which violated the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
“Entertainment centres which have violated the RMCO SOPs will be instructed to be closed for 14 days starting from the date of the issued compounds.
“Entertainment centres which are operating without licences are instructed to be closed down; otherwise heavy punishment would be imposed,” the committee disclosed in a press statement today.
SDMC advised entertainment centres with expired operating licences to immediately get renewals to avoid having any legal action by the authorities being taken against them.
Meanwhile, four districts in Sarawak retained their Covid-19 yellow zone statuses.
“As of today, Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Lubok Antu districts remain yellow zones with a total of 12 Covid-19 cases reported locally in the last 14 days.
“There has been no increase of new cases detected or reported in these districts today.
“With that, there is a total of four districts with the yellow zone status and 36 other districts in Sarawak remain green zones,” SDMC added. — DayakDaily
