KUCHING, March 4: SMD Semiconductor made waves at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 with the live demonstration of its Ultra Edge®️ Power Converter, a groundbreaking innovation designed to tackle the growing strain on data centre availability and grid energy management amid the global AI revolution.

As artificial intelligence reshapes industries worldwide, the Ultra Edge®️ prototype delivers an advanced, energy-efficient solution to meet the increasing demands of next-generation computing, according to a media release yesterday (March 3).

Further solidifying its commitment to cutting-edge technology, SMD Semiconductor also unveiled the Sarawak Semiconductor Roadmap 2030 – Beyond Moore’s Law, a strategic blueprint aimed at strengthening Sarawak’s semiconductor industry.

This initiative focuses on fostering innovation, enhancing supply chain resilience, and elevating domestic manufacturing capabilities, ensuring Sarawak’s position as a key player in the global semiconductor landscape.

Exhibiting under the Sarawak Pavilion alongside the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) and Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), SMD Semiconductor engaged with global industry leaders, potential partners, and key stakeholders.

MWC 2025, held from March 3 to 6 at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, attracted thousands of top executives and innovators, spotlighting the transformative impact of 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) on the future of connectivity.

SMD Semiconductor chief executive officer (CEO) Shariman Jamil stated that the event allowed the firm to demonstrate Sarawak’s expertise and reaffirm its commitment to advancing semiconductor solutions that meet the demands of a rapidly evolving industry.
