SMC chairman looks forward to having own council building soon

KUCHING, Jan 28: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting lis hoping for the approval of a site for the SMC office building to be built and the start of Bukit Assek Development in 2023.

Speaking during the SMC Chinese New Year open house held in Sibu Civic Centre today, Ting said apart from that, in 2023, SMC is going to focus on cleanliness in urban areas, including providing spaces for lorry parking with the anticipation of more vehicles coming into Sibu following the completion of Pan Borneo Highway.


He added SMC will also concentrate on removing the derelict express boat moored in front of Rejang esplanade, propose expanding of Jalan Wawasan and Jalan Aman and push for the start of Sibu Sentral bus terminal as well.

Meanwhile, Ting thanked the Sarawak government under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for the stable political leadership and the establishment of a strong State that has been acknowledge by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said this includes his effort in Sibu focusing on the Sibu Urban Renewal plan.

He hoped to see more development initiatives being mooted in SMC and Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) areas. — DayakDaily
